Susan W. LaVelle holds a Master of Science in Scientific and Technical Communication, with a minor in Literacy and Rhetorical Studies and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian and Linguistics from the University of Minnesota. She is an information designer, communications specialist, and editor of academic and scientific and technical texts.

She has written and edited projects for faculty, departments, and graduate students, such as grant proposals, theses, dissertations, journal articles, and book chapters, both in technical and scientific disciplines, as well as in the fields of the liberal arts. - Susan’s special focus is on edits for non-native-English speakers and she is very experienced in helping authors work through their manuscripts on a sentence-to-sentence basis for clarity and conciseness. She also edits on the level of post-translation, copyediting, and proofreading.
- Susan is experienced in a variety of style manuals, including APA, MLA, CMoS, GovPo, and the ACS style guides and loves to add new style guides to her repertoire.
